Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE)
Optionally, Assisted Independence provides the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE). The Mini Mental State
Examination (MMSE) can be used for all age groups. The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) can be administered typically
under 10 minutes. Because of the timeliness, many Recreational Therapists find the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE)
beneficial to gain a quick understanding of the cognitive functioning of the individual supported.
To complete the MMSE simply ask the questions listed on the assessment in order. The individual scores a point for each question they are able to independently answer.
After completion of the initial assessments, the initial assessment instructions and scoring sheet should be uploaded
to the profile of the individual supported on the Bureau of Disabilities Services (BDS) Online Portal.
